CBSE Board Exams 2027: Datesheet Released for Classes 10 and 12, Papers Begin February 16

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday released the datesheet for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations to be held in 2027. Both sets of exams will begin on Tuesday, February 16, 2027, and every paper will start at 10:30 AM.

The announcement gives lakhs of students and parents a clear timeline well ahead of the exams. It also lets schools plan practical assessments, revision classes and pre-board tests around the official schedule.

Released 101 days in advance

In a statement, the board said the datesheets were issued 101 days before the first paper. The aim, it said, was to give students enough time to prepare. An early schedule lets candidates divide their time across subjects, plan revision cycles and build in practice tests, and it spares families the uncertainty of waiting for dates.

Over 46 lakh students registered

According to the board, about 19.8 lakh students have registered for the Class 12 examinations, while more than 26.5 lakh have registered for Class 10. Together, over 46 lakh candidates are expected to sit the 2027 board exams, which means a large exercise in logistics, from exam centres and invigilators to question paper distribution and evaluation.

Subjects on offer

Class 10 students will appear in 85 subjects. Class 12 students will be examined across 121 subjects, covering the Science, Commerce and Arts streams as well as a range of elective and skill-based papers. The wide spread of subjects makes datesheet preparation complex, as the board must avoid clashes for students who take different combinations.

Class 10 schedule

The Class 10 examinations will open on February 16 with Painting. Mathematics follows on February 17. Other key papers, including Science, English and Social Science, come soon after, and the Class 10 exams will stretch into the second week of March. Students should check the full PDF for the exact date of each subject.

Class 12 schedule

The Class 12 examinations will begin on February 16 with Physics. Accountancy is scheduled for February 23. Geography and Chemistry follow in the last week of February. Several other major papers across Science, Commerce and Arts, including Mathematics, English, Economics, Biology and Business Studies, are scheduled between March and April.

How to download the datesheet PDF

Students and parents can download the complete timetables from the official CBSE website by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official website, cbse.gov.in.
  2. Go to the latest announcements or examinations section.
  3. Click the link for the CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 Date Sheet 2027.
  4. The timetable will open as a PDF on the screen.
  5. Download the PDF and save it for future reference.

Students are advised to rely only on the official website and to verify any datesheet that circulates on social media or messaging apps, as unverified versions often spread during exam season.

What it means for students

With more than three months to go, students have time to complete the syllabus and move on to revision. Educators generally recommend a few practices at this stage:

  • Plan around the gaps between papers. Gaps are useful for revising the next subject, so students should map each paper’s date against the time they need for it.
  • Practise with past papers. Solving previous years’ question papers and sample papers builds familiarity with the paper pattern and helps with time management.
  • Strengthen weaker subjects early. Subjects that students find difficult need more time on the calendar, and the early release makes that possible.
  • Look after health. Sleep, nutrition and short breaks matter as much as study hours, and so does managing exam stress.

Role of parents and schools

Parents can help by providing a calm study environment and avoiding added pressure. Open conversations and encouragement tend to work better than comparisons with other students. Schools, for their part, can use the early datesheet to schedule doubt-clearing sessions, mock exams and counselling support for students who feel anxious about the exams.

What to watch for next

Further notices on practical examinations, admit cards and exam-day guidelines are typically issued by the board closer to the exams. Students should keep checking the CBSE website and their school notice boards for updates, and make sure their registration details are correct so they do not face problems later.

The 2027 datesheet marks the start of the final stretch for lakhs of students, and the early release gives them a longer runway to prepare.
