Consular access granted to Christian Michel

India has granted consular access to British national Christian Michel, who is being interrogated by law enforcement agencies in the AgustaWestland case, a spokesperson of the British High Commission said on Friday.

“Our staff are supporting a British man who is detained in India, and have visited him to check his welfare,” the spokesperson said.

The statement of the UK mission was further confirmed by the MEA’s official spokesperson.

Sources also indicated that granting of more access to Mr. Michel will depend on further communication from the British government.

The U.K. sought consular access on December 6 after he was deported by the authorities in the United Arab Emirates.
