Purushottampur Forester Arrested While Taking Bribe

Khallikote: Once again the vigilance wing of the Berhampur Police has arrested another official while taking bribe. Siba Behera, forester of the Purushottampur Beat House under Khallikote Forest Range of Ganjam District have been caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000.

As per the complaint by Prabhakar Maharana, of Arakhapur Village under Purushottampur police limits of Ganjam District the vigilance wing laid a trap and arrested Behera. Maharana has a small carpentry in his house and making wooden furniture.

As per details, Behera called complainant Maharana on the road near forest gate at Purushottampur of Ganjam for not initiating any forest case against him.

As per previous arrangement, the accused called Maharana to the spot and enquired from him about the demanded amount.

When the Maharana replied in affirmative, the accused demanded the amount and as per the demand of accused, Maharana handed over the bribe amount of Rs.5,000 to accused Behera, who received the amount in his right hand, counted and seeing the approach of vigilance raiding party dropped the amount near his legs from where the amount has been seized in presence of witnesses.

Both hand washes taken with sodium carbonate solution of the accused turned to pink. Behera has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.

According to police, the rented residential house of accused Behera situated at Nilachala Nagar of Berhampur and his quarter at Purushottampur are being searched.
