Napier: Mohammed Shami on Wednesday became the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in the One-day Internationals (ODIs).

Shami achieved the feat during the opener of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand at McLean Park in Napier today.
Shami broke Irfan Pathan’s record to become the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 ODI wickets. While Pathan achieved this feat in 59 matches, Shami reached the landmark in 56 ODIs.

Along with the two pacers, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar and Javagal Srinath also made it to the list of the five fastest Indian bowlers to take 100 ODI wickets who did it in 65, 67 and 68 ODIs respectively.

In the international level, Shami is now tied with New Zealand pacer Trent Boult as the sixth fastest to reach the landmark in terms of matches played.
