Banking Assistant In Vigilance Net In Odisha

Baripada: Vigilance officials on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids in the house and three other places which belonged to the Banking Assistant of Mayurbhanj Central Co-operative Bank Ltd.

Acting on the allegation of amassing disproportionate assets, the Balasore vigilance division conducted searches at the house, office and two other places of Siris Chandra Mahanta, the Banking Assistant of the Karanjia Branch of Mayurbhanj Central Co-operative Bank Ltd.

The anti-corruption team, following the search warrant issued by the Baripada-based Special Vigilance Judge, is conducting raids at Mahanta’s residential house at Dhatikabeda village under Karanjia police limits, office and two housing complex at Karanjia. Besides, searches are on in four houses which the bank official has given on rent in Prasanti Vihar of Bhubaneswar.

Though the exact amount of Mahanta’s asset is yet to be known, as the search is still on, the Vigilance officials are said to have seized many important documents during the raid.
