4 Of Family Hurt As ‘Crude Bombs’ Stored For Jumbos Explode

Dhenkanal: At least four members of a family including a two-year-old boy and an elderly man sustained injuries after a ‘crude bomb’ kept inside their house in Jharada village under Gondia police limits went off under unfortunate circumstances last night.

The victims have been identified as Pitabas Guru, Jhuna Guru, Rakesh Guru and Parbati Guru.

The family members were busy in talks when the two-year-old took out a bag carrying the bombs and threw it inside the house while playing. The bombs suddenly exploded leaving four in the family injured.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Dhenkanal DHH where their conditions are stated to be stable.

While their possession of bombs has raised a serious question, the members of the victim family have claimed that the bombs were provided to them by the forest officials. Those have been stored in the house to drive away wild elephants sneaking into the village regularly to graze on crops.

Police have started investigation in the case.
