Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday directed the police to submit the charge sheet relating to police assault on a lawyer on August 28.
The court postponed its hearing on the issue relating to police-lawyer face-off to November 12.
The court out rightly rejected the appeal of the ADG (Crime Branch), who sought another six weeks to submit the chargesheet in this case.
The court rejected the appeal, stating that since the sitting judge of the High Court Justice C R Das would monitor the case there was no justification on the part of the IO to seek over a month’s time to prepare the chargesheet.
The High Court on October 30 had directed the State Police to complete the investigation into the alleged police excesses by November 9.
Meanwhile many Association members have told that they will continue their agitation till November 12 as the High Court will hear the case on that day.
