Odisha Government Appoints 240 Veterinary Doctors

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today has handed over appointment orders to 240 newly-recruited veterinary doctors and 39 agriculture officers selected through Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).

The Chief Minister distributed the orders at a State-level workshop at Rabindra Mandap of Bhubaneswar.

In the event, Chief Minister Patnaik said that the Odisha Government is taking expeditious steps to fill up vacant posts, both in technical and non-technical cadres in agriculture and allied sectors.

About 90% of farmers of the State belong to the small and marginal category where the livestock sector provides a great support for their sustainable livelihood, the CM further said.

In animal resources development sector, in the last 5 years, about 7 lakh farmers have been assisted for taking up animal husbandry activity. Similarly, in fisheries sector, about 1.5 lakh farmers have been extended livelihood options through freshwater, brackish water, and marine fishing activities, the CM expressed.

Goatery, poultry, and dairy farming activities have been scaled up in the current year to support about 1 lakh farmers for multiplying their income, the CM further added.
