Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Conveys Best Wishes to Indian Contingent for Asian Games 2018

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today conveyed his best wishes to the Indian contingent for the 18th Asian Games, opened amid a spectacular ceremony at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in this Indonesian capital on Saturday night.

“Best wishes to Indian contingent as #AsianGames2018, Jakarta started with a grand opening ceremony. With the participation of 12 sportspersons across five disciplines from #Odisha, it is truly #OdishaForIndia @asiangames2018”, the Chief Minister tweeted.

The 804-member Indian contingent, including 572 athletes, will be vying for the medals at the prestigious tournament.

As many as 12 players from Odisha are representing India at the multi-sport event.

The Jakarta Asiad will stage 465 events out of 40 sports, among which 330 events from 32 sports will feature in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Asian Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes, will run through Sept. 2.
