Bhubaneswar: Police today recovered the body of a woman from a rented house in Shree Vihar area of the capital city.
The deceased woman Manaswini Barik, identified as a resident of Melchhamunda village of Bargarh, was working as a doctor in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the victim’s family members called her up yesterday over phone but they failed to get any response. Worried, they then informed a few medical staff who rushed to her home only to see her dead body lying inside the house.
“Police have recovered a syringe and an injection sample from her room but I don’t think it’s a case of suicide,” says a family friend of the lady doctor.
Sources further claimed that the woman was divorced a few months back.
While a police investigation is currently underway, it is yet to be established under what circumstances she took the extreme step.
“The body of the victim has been kept in the Capital hospital. The cause of death can only be ascertained after getting the post mortem reports. Further investigation is on,” said a police official.
