Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today condoled the demise of former Education Minister and eminent writer Jadunath Das Mohapatra.
The former minister passed away at a hospital here today. He was 90. He is survived by a son and daughter.
Naveen explained the late leader as an “astute politician and prolific writer”. He also conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
A three-time MLA, Das Mohapatra was the Education minister in the cabinet of former Chief Minister Janaki Ballav Patnaik.
Mohapatra had also written a number of Odia novels and won several awards.
The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) also expressed grief over the death of the former minister.
