Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded answers from Prime Minster Narendra Modi on the fatal clash at Ladakh on Monday evening that left at least 20 Indian Army soldiers dead.
Rahul tweeted on Wednesday, “Why is the PM silent? Why is he hiding? Enough is enough. We need to know what has happened. How dare China kill our soldiers? How dare they take our land?”

Since May, Rahul Gandhi has commented and tweeted multiple times asking the Narendra Modi government to give details of the situation in Ladakh where Indian and Chinese soldiers had been engaged in a standoff. In a press conference in May, Rahul said “on the India-China issue, we would like to see some more transparency on what is going on”.
Rahul tweeted on May 29 “”The government’s silence about the border situation with China is fuelling massive speculation and uncertainty at a time of crisis.”
Rahul tweeted last week that “Chinese have walked in and taken our territory in Ladakh”. The comment triggered a response by a group of armed forces veterans, who alleged, “…Gandhi was hobnobbing with Chinese diplomats when there was a standoff between India and China in 2017 in Doklam. No sane Indian is expected to make statements against his own country and military, which undoubtedly support the enemy countries”.
Since news of the Ladakh clash emerged, the Congress has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his perceived silence. The Congress tweeted on Tuesday, “Our brave army personnel have been martyred & as our nation mourns this loss, our govt stands idly by & refuses to answer pertinent questions. PM Modi & Defence Minister must break their silence.”
The clash in Ladakh is the biggest confrontation between the two militaries after their 1967 clashes in Nathu La when India lost around 80 soldiers while over 300 Chinese army personnel were killed.
