For the first time after Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was made a Congress general secretary, she will share a stage with her mother and party leader, Sonia Gandhi, along with party president Rahul Gandhi, in Gujarat on Thursday.
The meeting will be preceded by a crucial meeting of the Congress Working Committee, the top decision-making body of the Congress, at Sardar Patel Memorial here.
The CWC meeting is being held in the State more than six decades after the previous meeting held in 1961.
“Before the meeting commences at Sardar Patel Memorial, all leaders will first gather at Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram, where they will attend a prayer meeting. The leaders will also hold a condolence meeting for the death of CRPF and Army personnel in recent terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir,” Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda said.
“After the prayer meeting, all leaders will arrive at Sardar Patel Memorial for the CWC meeting,” Mr. Chavda told presspersons while briefing about the preparations for the crucial meeting ahead of the Lok Sabha election.
During the meeting, the main Opposition party is likely to pass several resolutions against the Modi government and its failures on various fronts.
Jan Akrosh rally
After the meeting, a public meeting has been organised at Adalaj, near Gandhinagar, in which top Congress leaders will address more than 50,000 people expected for the Jan Akrosh rally.
“We have formed various committees to welcome top leaders who will be arriving to attend the meeting,” Mr. Chavda said.
