Bhubaneswar: The customs officials seized smuggled gold worth of Rs 8.20 lakh from a passenger at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), said an official on Saturday.
The passenger arrived at the city airport from Kuala Lumpur on Friday night, the official said.
The officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs seized gold weighing about 254.47 grams grams.
The Customs sleuths intercepted the passenger after finding his activities suspicious.
According to reports, the accused had concealed the gold in his rectum in form of powder wrapped in black tape and polythene like capsules.
