Pakistani Journalist Rides a Donkey While Reporting and the Internet Wants to Give Him an Award

News reporting is a serious business but every time Amin Hafeez finds himself in front of the camera, hilarity ensues.

For the uninitiated, Hafeez, who works with Pakistan’s Geo News, has a knack of reporting from the most unusual places.

One such report Hafeez was a part of recently is the flourishing donkey business in Lahore. According to the report, Lahore has the third largest population of donkeys in the world and the breeders and owners couldn’t be happier at this development.

Pakistan’s government has set up hospitals to treat the mammals for free of cost and an average donkey does a business of 1000 Pakistani Rupees per day.

The very adventurous Hafeez goes out to report from ground zero, with thousands of donkeys in the frame.

But what happens next will make you chuckle.

“Insaan aur gadhe ka rishta toh sadiyo purana hai, magar Lahore mein gadho ka karobar achanak chamak uthne se gadha palne wale log khushi se phule nahi sama rahe (The relationship between the humans and donkeys goes way back, but the sudden rise of the donkey rearing business in Lahore is making breeders ecstatic),” says Hafeez while riding a donkey. Yep.

The video of the entire report was shared by another Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir on his Twitter page and he had something to say.

“Donkey business flourishing in Lahore and look at the way my old Freind Amin Hafeez reporting donkey business by risking his life.”

The clip soon went viral across the platform and Twitterati couldn’t stop commenting on the report.
