Odisha Cabinet Approves Health Dept Proposal to Regularize 8195 Contractual Workers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet today approved 28 major proposals including a proposal to regularize 8,195 contractual workers engaged in the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here gave its approval to the proposal of the Health and Family Welfare Department regarding the regularization of 8195 contractual staffs who have completed six years in service working as nurse, lab technician, radiographer and health worker.

As per the Cabinet decision, out of 3998 contractual staff nurses working in the health department, 1409 will be regularized. Similarly, 227 lab technicians out of 799 will be regularized and the rest will be regularized after the completion of six years in service. The jobs of 2051 male health workers and 588 female health workers will also be regularized.

The amendment of Odisha Homoeopathic Medical Education Service Method of Recruitment and Condition of Service) Rules, 2013 has also got the approval of the Cabinent.

Apart from it, the State Cabinet also approved the ‘Khushi’ Yojana to provide free sanitary pads to school girls from Class-VI to XII under the scheme.

The government will spend Rs 466 crore in the five years under th scheme. The decision will benefit as many as 17.25 lakh girl students across the State.

KALIA Scholarship scheme, which aims at extending financial assistance to the children of the beneficiaries under KALIA for pursuing professional courses, has also got the Cabinet nod.

The scheme will lead to better access to higher education for children of small and marginal farmers, landless agricultural labourers and vulnerable farmers.

Other major projects that got the Cabinet nod include four mega lift-irrigation projects of Water Resources Department, two piped water supply projects under Basudha scheme, Rs 3,000 crore bank guarantee to GRIDCO and provision of night meals at Aahar centres.
