Maoists Strike in Chhattisgarh Day Before Election

Raipur: A day before Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections, there is report of another Maoists attack in the State in the morning today. In the attack, Maoists triggered seven explosions, in which one BSF ASI trooper was injured.

The injured trooper has been identified as Mahendra Singh. He was rushed to Antagarh hospital after the attack.

The attack took place when troopers were conducting a search operation in the area. The improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted in a series between Gome Village and Gattakal in Koyali Beda by the Maoists.

As per preliminary reports, a Maoist has been killed in an encounter at Bijapur. During the operations a huge amount of arms and ammunition was seized by the forces.

Earlier this week, four civilians and a CISF soldier were killed after an IED explosion near the Bacheli Village in Dantewada District.

The first phase of the State polls will take place tomorrow, whereas the second phase is scheduled to be held on 20 November. Ahead of the assembly polls in the State, Maoist have intensified their attacks in the region.
