Five militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in an overnight encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday, police said.
Joint teams of the Army and police had launched an operation in Shokbaba area of Bandipora in north Kashmir on Thursday evening following reports of presence of militants there. The Army had then claimed to have killed one militant.
A police spokesman on Friday said that five LeT militants had been killed in the encounter so far.
The identities of the slain militants are being ascertained and the operation is still underway to see whether there were any more militants in the area, police said.
