Desperate to Visit Manali But With No Cash, Domino’s Employee Loots Delhi Outlet With Friend

New Delhi: A 20-year-old employee of a Domino’s outlet in Delhi’s Ratan Park hired two sharpshooters to rob the popular pizza outlet and fund a trip to Manali.

The main accused, identified as Sonu, stole the keys of the store and gave them over to his friend Bunty, who along with the two contractual robbers entered the restaurant on Sunday night and held four employees at gunpoint.

The three men collected the money made from weekend sales and fled with approximately Rs 1.7 lakh, the Times of India reported.

In the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, Domino’s Pizza staff informed the police that three unknown persons entered into their food outlet in Ratan Park and looted Rs 1,50,800 at gunpoint, said Seju Kuruvilla, deputy commissioner of police (outer).

During investigation, the police found that Sonu, a sweeper at the restaurant, had deleted call history from his phone. On Being questioned, he confessed to being part of the robbery and revealed that he had been wanting to visit Manali ever since he saw pictures of the hill station but since he didn’t have money he decided to rob the restaurant.

Sachin and Sumit were shooters of a gang and were involved in a murder case in 2016. They had also looted a gun of a security guard at Mundka in 2017, police said. One countrymade pistol, two live cartridges, one motorcycle and Rs 1,03,500 were recovered from their possession, he added.

Sonu told police they all purchased clothes and shoes with the loot.

Police laid a trap and apprehended Banty. Sachin and Sumit were also arrested when they were planning to go to Manali, said Seju Kuruvilla, deputy commissioner of police (outer).
