Calcutta High Court cancels its order allowing BJP’s ‘save democracy’ rath-yatra in state

The Calcutta High Court on Friday cancelled its order allowing BJP’s ‘save democracy’ rath-yatra in the state.

The West Bengal government had earlier moved the division bench of Calcutta High Court challenging single bench order allowing the Rath yatra.

On Thursday, a single-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court gave conditional approval for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s rath yatra, setting aside the state government’s December 15 rejection of the party’s application to hold the same.

BJP state president Dilip Ghosh had said the party will fix new dates for the yatra, after discussions with the administration.
