Arunachal Pradesh: Sitting NNP MLA Tirong Aboh, 10 others killed in attack; NSCN militants’ hand suspected

Itanagar: In a shocking incident being reported from Arunachal Pradesh, sitting National People’s Party (NPP) MLA from Khonsa West Assembly constituency, Tirong Aboh, and 10 others were on Tuesday killed in an attack.

Aboh was seeking re-election from Khonsa West Assembly seat. The result of Assembly Elections in Arunachal Pradesh will come on May 23.

According to reports, suspected NSCN (National Socialist Council of Nagaland) militants could be behind the attack, which took place at Bogapani village of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that he was “shocked and saddened by the brutal attack and tragic killing of MLA Shri Tirong Aboh of Arunachal Pradesh, his family including 11 people. Strongest possible action will be taken against those responsible for such dastardly attack.”

Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP president Conrad K Sangma has confirmed the attack.

Taking to Twitter, Sangma said the NPP strongly condemned the “brutal attack on Tirong Aboh and his family and his security personnel.”

“The NPP is extremely shocked and saddened by the news of the death of its MLA Shri Tirong Aboh (Arunachal Pradesh) and his family. We condemn the brutal attack and urge @rajnathsingh and @PMOIndia to take action against those responsible for such attack,” Sangma further tweeted.
