Ram Gopal Varma releases trailer of ‘Coronavirus’, first film on pandemic

The trailer of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s next thriller Coronavirus is out. As the title suggests, the film deals with the coronavirus pandemic, and the lockdown. On Tuesday, Varma took to Twitter to release the trailer of the film which was shot in the lockdown period while ‘strictly following guidelines’.

“We shot the CORONAVIRUS film in the LOCKDOWN period while strictly following guidelines and this I swear on ESHWAR,ALLAH, JESUS and the GOVERNMENT,” Varma tweeted.

Taking at dig at celebrities who have been actively posting videos of them doing household work and cooking, Varma tweeted on Wednesday that he used the time to make a film. “When the rest of film people were SWEEPING FLOORS, COOKING FOOD ,WASHING UTENSILS , DRYING CLOTHES etc etc I MADE A FILM (sic),” he said.

Coronavirus features Srikanth Iyengar and is helmed by Agasthya Manju.

The trailer reveals a family, and their struggle as they figure out if one of their family member has contracted the coronavirus during the lockdown.

Sharing the trailer, Amitabh Bachchan, who has previously worked with RGV in films such as Sarkaar, tweeted, “The irrepressible Ram Gopal Varma, ‘Ramu’ to many .. ‘Sarkaaar’ to me .. makes an entire film about a family in Lockdown, shot during Lockdown ..Titled : CORONAVIRUS .. perhaps the first film to be made on the virus ..This be the TRAILER ..”

Replying to Bachchan, Varma said: “THANKS SARKAAAAR! ..I couldn’t just let a chungoo mungoo VIRUS to LOCK me DOWN (sic)”.
