Balasore: A youth allegedly abducted a minor girl and raped her after she rejected his love proposals in Simulia village under Soro police limits of the district. The accused youth has been identified as Anup Behera.
According to reports, Behera had proposed the minor girl, who is said to be a tenth standard student, time and again. However, the girl had rejected the advances by him. Perturbed over the rejection, Behera allegedly abducted the girl on April 27 and raped her. Soon after committing the crime he fled the spot.
The incident came to light when the girl narrated the incident to her parents who filed a complaint with the Soro police yesterday.
Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation into the incident. “Based on the allegation of a minor girl’s parents, we have registered a case. They have alleged that Anu Behera of Simulia village had kidnapped the girl and kept sexual relationship with her by force. Efforts are on to nab the accused who went missing soon after committing the crime,” informed Dilip Das, Inspector-In-Charge of Soro police station.
