Challenges and adaptability is the key of industrial revolution, said Electronics & Information Technology Minister Tusharkanti Behera while participating in a one day conference ICT Odisha 2019 organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Odisha State Office on Wednesday to discuss on the rise of new digital industrial technology, known as Industry 4.0.
While the technology, which is a manufacturing revolution, will increase productivity, shift economics, foster industrial growth, and modify the profile of the workforce—ultimately changing the competitiveness of companies and regions, the government has to also act as a critical stakeholder in the current industrial revolution if the MSMEs need to succeed in the adoption of the emerging technologies.
The government intervention in terms of funds, infrastructure, technical knowhow and exposure can make a significant impact and make the benefits of Industry 4.0 accessible to the bottom of the pyramid.
In view of this, Minister Behera said the Odisha Government is keen to be part of this evolution and ready with all kind of support while enlightening the utility of the Industry 4.0 in Big Data Analysis and Maintenance.
Speaking at the conference Vice-Chairman of CII Odisha State Council Pradipta Mohanty, said, “Companies must become more innovative and agile to respond to the highly competitive, global business environment. Collaboration is indispensable for innovation-within the company’s own boundaries and beyond with customers, Partners, start-ups, universities and research communities.”
Co-Convener of CII Odisha ICT Panel Biswajit Nayak said, “Digitalization and globalization are shifting paradigms and bringing new opportunities. Billions of devices are connected by the internet and interact at an entirely new level. These technologies are changing the way we live, communicate and work.”
Special Secretary of Electronics & Information Technology Rudra Narayan Palai suggested industry 4.0 should be the theme of the industry. He started with the background of industry 4.0 in cyber security, cloud computing, artificial intelligent and augmented reality.
“Odisha government is working with IIT Bhubaneswar and STPI to develop a Centre of Excellence in Bhubaneswar for artificial intelligence, data analytics and drone programming. To encourage start-ups, government is planning to setup an entrepreneur park and relook the start up policy also,” he added.
