Odisha Govt to Provide Compensation to Family of Man Killed by Tigress ‘Sundari’

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to provide compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the family of the man, who was killed by tigress ‘Sundari’ in Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary in Angul district, official sources said.

The family of 60-year-old Trinath Sahu of Tainsi village in the district will get the compensation from the State Forest and Environment Department, revealed Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Sandeep Tripathy.

As per reports, Sahu was mauled to death by the Royal Bengal Tigress when he had gone for fishing in the wee hours of Sunday near the forest.

Meanwhile, a special team comprising professionals from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) and doctors from Nandankanan Zoological Park and gun assistants will be visiting the forest to capture the wild animal, sources said.
