Bhubaneswar: IN a significant development, to ensure safety and security of girl students belonging to backward communities, the Odisha government has decided to install CCTV cameras in all SC and ST ladies hostel across the state, official sources said.
Speaking to media, ST/SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ramesh Majhi said CCTV cameras will be installed in 1000 hostels in the first phase. There are 7000 such hostels in the state.
Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Ltd has been enthrusted to install CCTV cameras. Tender in this regard likely to be floated soon.
