Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to the urban transport system, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off the technology-driven and citizen-friendly ‘Mo Bus’ service of the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) in the state capital here.

The hi-tech bus service featuring free Wi-Fi, CCTV surveillance, public information display system and on board announcements will cover nine different routes in the Smart City the first phase.

The CRUT, the company that manages the bus service, said that the phase-II network of the service will be rolled from 15 November and the third and final phase will be launched from 10 December.

Nearly 300 buses will be introduced in three different phases including 100 buses in the first phase.

The hi-tech bus service also comes with a ‘Mo Bus’ mobile app that facilitates commuters to book tickets using their handheld devices. The app also provides information regarding the locations of the vehicle in order to reduce the waiting time for the travellers.

The launch of this new bus service will further enhance the transport system in the capital city ahead of the Men’s Hockey World Cup to be held this month.
