Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Urges Centre to Introduce Direct Flight Between Bhubaneswar, Surat

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today insisted the Centre to introduce a direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat as a large number of Odia families have settled in the Gujarat city.

In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, the Odisha Chief Minister said that presently, there is no direct air connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Surat. It takes a lot of time to travel by air between these two cities.

“Lakhs of Odia families have settled in Surat and are engaged in the textile sector there. However, presently there is no direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat. During the hours of urgent necessity, Odia people living in Surat face untold difficulties in reaching Odisha in time”, Naveen wrote.

CM further added that air connectivity between the cities can give rise to tourist inflow to both the places.

Naveen requested the Aviation Minister to impress upon Air India and other private airlines to introduce direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Surat.
