Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session Begins Today

Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of Odisha Legislative Assembly will begin from Tuesday. The session will continue till September 20. It will have 11 working days.

The House will pay tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on 16 August.

The government is expected to present the supplementary budget to allocate funds for a number of development projects.

Apart from it, the government will present other important bills, such as Odisha Legislative Assembly Members Salary, Allowances and Pension (Amendment) Bill, 2018, Odisha Ministers’ Salaries, Allowances and Pension (Second Amendment) Bill, 2018, Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology and technology University, Odisha, Bill, 2018 and Odisha Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2018 during the monsoon session.

Meanwhile, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will highlight issues relating to Mahanadi and Polavaram where the Central Government has compromised the interests of the State, sources said.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said that his party is prepared for discussion constructively on any subject that the opposition desires to bring up.
