Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district today demanded dismissal of rebellious leader Damodar Rout alleging his anti-party activities.

A group of BJD leaders led by Jagatsinghpur district president Bishnu Das met party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence here today and sought suspension of the controversial leader from the BJD.

The Jagatsinghpur BJD leaders have submitted a memorandum to the BJD President seeking the former minister’s suspension alleging his anti-party activities.

They have also demanded disciplinary action against the Pradip MLA who has been targeting the State Government on a daily basis through an obliging section of the media after his removal from the council of ministers and vice president position for his communal remarks against the Brahmins in December last year.

Bishnu Das alleged that Damodar Rout has supported arrested Bapu Parida, a close aide of arrested hardcore criminal Sayed Usman Ali alias Tito.

Once expelled from the party, the political career of the veteran leader will definitely come to an end as he has been winning the elections on BJD ticket on the back of popularity of Naveen Patnaik, the political analysts said.
