Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a Body of a girl who was found dead in a pool of blood recovered .inside a hotel room in Mancheswar area in the city today morning, police sources said.
The deceased has been identified as Laxmipriya Biswal of Khordha area and was staying at the hotel for past few days, sources added.
According to police sources, Laxmipriya had been staying with a male friend in the hotel for the last two days. However, her male friend was absconding from the scene.
The incident came to light after the staff of the hotel informed the police about a room which had been locked from outside under mysterious conditions.
After reaching the spot and breaking open the door of the room the police team found the dead body of the victim lying in a pool of blood with grievous head injury. From the prima facie evidence it appeared that the victim had been killed by repeated hit on her head with iron rod.
Police seized the body for autopsy. Cops also seized an Aadhaar card from the spot bearing the name Aditya Mohapatra.
Though, the exact reason of the murder could not have been ascertained, the police and hotel authority suspect that the woman was murdered by her male friend.
Police have started investigation by verifying the CCTV footage of the hotel.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased have been informed about the incident.
