Kendrapara: The first same sex marriage between two girls in Odisha’s Kendrapara embroiled in controversy with the father of one of the girls alleging that his daughter was forced into the marriage.
FIR against Kendrapara same sex marriage Sabitri Parida of Mahakalpada and Monalisa Nayak of Pattamundai tied the nuptial knot on Saturday.
Monalisa’s father today lodged a complaint with Pattamundai police alleging that her daughter was lured by Sabitri to get married.
According to a report, both the girls maintained their relationship since school days. With the passage of time, they decided to continue the relationship and got married.
Both the girls, who are now working for the same company, tied the nuptial knot in the presence of notary Ashutosh Mohanty.
Notably, the Supreme Court in a landmark verdict on September 6 decriminalised homosexuality under section 377 of the IPC.
