Bargarh: Normal life came to a standstill in Padmapur sub division in the district following a 12-hour bandh call given by Sachetan Nagarika Manch over district status to the area.
Schools, colleges and other educational institutions remained closed during the bandh observation which started at 6 am in the morning and will continue till 6 pm.
Commuters faced a tough time as vehicular movement on the roads was disrupted due to picketing by the bandh supporters.
The Manch has alleged administrative negligence in several blocks in the sub division which are fall under non-irrigated category. It hopes that if Padmapur get upgraded as a district then the problem will be sorted out.
The bandh supporters have warned to continue the strike till their demands are met.
