Nepal Team Gets ICC ODI Status

Harare: Joining the big boys from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Himalayan country Nepal has been given one-day international status from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Nepal achieved this feat after beating Papua New Guinea (PNG) at Old Hararians Sports Club in the ICC World Cup qualifiers on Thursday. Nepal grabbed the last remaining ODI status by leaving PNG and Hong Kong behind.
Skipper Paras Khadka as well as the entire team was delighted after Nepal got the ODI status for the first time in its cricket history.

Many former international cricketers took to Twitter to congratulate the tiny Himalayan nation for achieving this status.
Nepal has grown as a cricketing nation with the number of cricket lovers climbing up in the country.

Sandeep Lamichhane became the first player from Nepal to be bought by an IPL franchise when Delhi Daredevils bought him for INR 20 lakh during the auction earlier this year.
