Hema Gamang Likely To Join Cong Before 2019 Polls

New Delhi: Hema Gamang, the former Koraput Lok Sabha MP and wife of ex Odisha CM Giridhar Gamang, is likely to join Congress before the ensuing polls.

She has reportedly informed the national media about come back to the party. Hema was also seen at the AICC headquarters here in meeting with several senior party leaders on Tuesday.

Earlier, she had resigned from the Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on April 27, 2018. Ahead of 2014 polls, she joined the BJD but had lost from Laxmipur assembly seat.
It was speculated that she would join the Bharatiya Janata Party soon as her husband Giridhar Gamang and son Shishir Gamang are already in the saffron party.

Hema was elected to Lok Sabha in 1999 when her husband Giridhar Gamang was the CM of Odisha. She had also contested for a Vidhan Sabha seat in 2009 but lost.

Worth mentioning here that, Hema’s husband and the former Odisha CM Giridhar Gamang had resigned from the Congress party on May 30, 2015 and joined the BJP on June 13, 2015.
