Congress candidate Anand Nayamgouda wins Jamkhandi seat

Political parties and voters of three parliamentary and two assembly seats in Karnataka are waiting for the results of the recently concluded by-elections.

The counting of votes for Jamkhandi and Ramanagara assembly seats and Shivamogga, Ballari and Mandya Lok Sabha seats, which went to polls on Saturday, has begun.

An estimated 67 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the bypolls for the five constituencies.

The Karnataka bypolls is seen a crucial test for the ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition for two reasons: one, it is their first test since coming together five months ago and two, it is a prelude to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
