Bhubaneswar: In a nobel gesture, an MLA from Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) who won ‘Best Legislator Award’ today has donated the prize money for the Kerala flood victims.
Ranendra Pratap Swain, a BJD MLA from Athagarh constituency, bagged the ‘Best Legislator Award’ for the year 2015 for his outstanding performance in the Assembly.
The legislator has been felicitated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with the ‘Pandit Nilakantha Samman’. The MLA also received Rs 1 lakh as incentive.
The Athagarh MLA has decided to donate the prize money to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to help the flood-affected people in the southern state.
