Mumbai ESIC Kamgar hospital fire: death toll increases to 6


The fire occured at the government-run ESIC Kamgar Hospital located at Marol in suburban Andheri.

The death toll in the fire that broke out in a Mumbai hospital in Andheri on Monday has increased to six.while more than 140 who were trapped have been rescued from the raging flames. There are still many feared trapped in the fire, said officials. The fire was extinguished at 7.35 p.m.

The fire brigade got a call around 4 p.m. about the blaze at the government-run ESIC Kamgar Hospital at Marol in suburban Andheri, an official in the city civic body’s disaster management cell said.

Eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot, he said, adding that efforts were on to douse the flames and evacuate the patients.

The injured were shifted to six hospitals.
