Cuttack: At least two persons were killed and as many injured when a miscreant opened fire on them in Odisha’s Cuttack district, said police on Thursday.
The firing incident occurred at Katikata market under Nischintkoili police limits in Salepur block of Odisha’s Cuttack district late on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Sheikh Imran of Patasaila village and Raghunath Mallick of Bhola village.
According to sources, Imran had an altercation with a youth during a melody night organised at Katikata market on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebration of Kartikeswar Puja Committee.
It soon took an ugly turn as the person took out a gun and fired at Imran killing him on the spot.
As others present at the concert approached towards the spot, the person opened fire at them, as a result of which three of them sustained critical bullet injuries.
Raghunath succumbed to the injuries at the hospital on Thursday morning.
