SC Collegium Recommends Transfer of Justice Satrughana Pujahari to His Home State Odisha

New Delhi: In a significant development, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of the Madras High Court judge Justice Satrughana Pujahari for the High Court of Orissa.

Justice Pujahari, who was appointed a Judge of the Madras High Court in November 2017, has been repatriated to the Orissa High Court.

The SC Collegium comprising Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Justice MB Lokur, Justice Kurian Joseph, Justice AK Sikri and Justice SA Bobde also recommended the transfer of two judges of Orissa High Court Justice Indrajit Mohanty to the Bombay High Court and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad to the to the High Court of Jharkhand.

Justice Pujahari, Mohanty and Prasad were among eight high court judges to have been recommended for transfer to different high courts.

Justice Pujahari enrolled with the Odisha Bar in 1987. He served as a Second Additional District and Sessions Judge, Berhampur. He also served as a District and Sessions Judge at Jeypore, Puri and Cuttack, Chairman of the Odisha Sales Tax Tribunal, Member Secretary of the Cuttack Legal Services Authority and Principal Secretary to the Law department of the Government of Odisha.  He was promoted as an Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court on 29 November 2013.
