Naveen Inaugurates 500 Drinking Water Projects for Khurda, Jatani and Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to supply drinking water to each urban household under the BASUDHA (Buxy Jagabandhu Assured Water Supply to Habitations) scheme, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a mega drinking water supply project at Jatani in Khurda District.

Odisha CM dedicated 500 such drinking water projects to the people of 95 urban local bodies (ULBs) or municipal areas.

The mega water supply project would carter to the need of IIT Bhubaneswar, NISER and Industrial Estate under IDCO, besides khurda and Jatani.
The 500 completed projects dedicated today have been built at an estimated cost of Rs. 408 crore. The project built on PPP mode will cater the need of 33 lakh denizens of 95 cities of Odisha.

The mega project is the first ever integrated drinking water project in which water tapping system, water treatment and supply of safe drinking water have been included.

Speaking on the occasion CM said “500 drinking water projects at a cost of Rs. 408 crore were inaugurated today to provide piped drinking water to 33 lakh people of 95 towns of the State”.

Under BASUDHA Scheme, the Odisha Government is dedicated to supply drinking water to each urban household, CM added.
