Mayurbhanj: Nearly 26 houses of displaced families destroyed in a devastating fire that broke out at Similipal village in Mayurbhanj district late on Monday night.
Although no loss of life was reported, properties worth lakhs reduced to cinders.
After receiving information about the mishap, fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
Sources said houses of nearly 16 families were destroyed in the mishap. However, the exact cause of the mishap is yet to be ascertained.
After the incident, Block Development Officer (BDO) and district administration officials visited the spot to take stock of the situation. Meanwhile, the displaced families have demanded rehabilitation.
