Why is he putting us through so much pain, says Namrata Dutt on RGV’s Sanjay Dutt biopic

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt’s sister Namrata Dutt has responded to director Ram Gopal Varma’s announcement of making a film on Sanjay. RGV said that his film will be titled Sanju: The Real Story, and it will be an honest biopic.

Namrata talked to Mid-Day and questioned why RGV ‘wants to bring those painful memories back?’ She also said that if Sanjay gives a ‘go ahead’ for the film then they don’t have the authority to stop it.

She said, “His movies are dark. Why do you want to go on and on about Sanjay’s life? Why is he putting us through so much pain again?”

Varma confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror and said, “Yes, I am making the film.” He refused to divulge further details about the film, including who he was going to be cast as Sanjay.
RGV’s film will reportedly focus on Dutt’s several brushes with the law, most prominently the terrorism charges levelled against him in relation to the 1993 Mumbai blasts.

The new film will address some of the unanswered questions, like how Dutt came to be in possession of an AK-56 assault rifle in the first place.

Recently, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani made a biopic on Sanjay and it was titled Sanju. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay, the film is now among the highest grossing Indian films.
