Cuttack: Orissa High Court directed the State government to remove Professor Dr Datteswar Hota, Head of the Department (HoD) of Urology Department at SCB Medical College & Hospital here on Wednesday.
Hearing a petition filed by students of the Urology department, the Court also directed the State government to appoint a new HoD, replacing Dr Hota, within 10 days.
The Court also asked the government to take necessary action to keep Dr Hota away from furnishing any examination duty.
Dr Hota, who had led a team of doctors for successfully conducting 100th kidney transplant surgery at SCB Medical College & Hospital in April 2016, has been accused of harassing students of his department by engaging them at his private clinic.
In the petition, it is alleged that Dr Hota threatens the junior medicos to disqualify in their exams if they disobeyed him.
