Bhubaneswar: Odisha Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy on Sunday resigned from the cabinet of Naveen Patnaik.
The senior BJD leader was in the eye of storm following his controversial remarks hailing acquittal of Pipili Gang Rape accused.
The opposition Congress and BJP had been demanding the resignation of Pradeep Maharathy from the cabinet.
During a public meeting held at Baripda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday requested the state government to probe Pipili gangrape and murder case again to ensure justice for the victim and punish the culprits.
